We have been successfully using the Ramsey Financial Peace University curriculum to teach financial literacy to the most under served and needy in the Fort Wayne \/ Allen County Indiana geography. The curriculum has been very well received by participants at our agency and we are ready for the next big step: providing the curriculum and training to other area organizations so that they can in turn take it to their clients.<\/p>\n

Other area agencies are joining the effort<\/h2>\n

Several local organizations have come forward to participate with us in teaching this important life skill to get people off of welfare by effectively teaching them how to take responsibility for their own finances, some of these agencies provide major financial safety net and would require training in\u00a0this curriculum as a condition of receiving aid. This is proven curriculum that will\u00a0make a lasting improvement in our community.<\/p>\n

There is one tinsey, little, problem<\/h2>\n

When we purchased the curriculum we did not know that it contained faith based elements: it is\u00a0inappropriate for some organizations. After some research I have found there is a secular \/ corporate version of the same method which would be exactly what is needed, for less cost than the\u00a0.FPU curriculum. For 100 students \/ staff it will\u00a0cost us\u00a0$3,000 total. We would like to raise this needed $3,000 to buy enough units to equip\u00a0all interested area government agencies and public charities with the curriculum as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

Also, if anyone would like to buy the FPU Membership Kits\u00a0that we presently have to help fund the secular curriculum come see me – 20 FPU Membership Kits\u00a0are available for $93\u00a0each \u00a0($1,860) at this time. The proceeds\u00a0will be used to purchase the secular materials.<\/p>\n

The curriculum works. If it is deployed across the Fort Wayne area it will significantly\u00a0reduce the number of people on\u00a0public assistance.\u00a0Other agencies are ready to start\u00a0if we can provide them with the needed materials. We just need the money to buy the secular version of this proven curriculum.<\/p>\n
