This is a very strong indicator that the quality and benefits of available jobs has increased enough to attract more workers.<\/p>\n<h1 align=\"center\">July\u00a0Indiana Employment Report<\/h1>\n<p class=\"gd_p\" align=\"left\"><b>INDIANAPOLIS<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b>(Aug. 17, 2018) \u2013\u00a0Indiana\u2019s <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">unemployment rate<\/span> stands at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">3.4 percent<\/span> for\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">July<\/span> and remains lower than the national rate of\u00a03.9 percent. With the exception of one month when it was equal (October 2014), <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Indiana&#8217;s unemployment rate now has been below the U.S. rate for more than four years.<\/span> The monthly unemployment rate is a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicator that reflects the number of unemployed people seeking employment within the prior four weeks as a percentage of the labor force.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gd_p\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Indiana\u2019s labor force<\/span>\u00a0had a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">net increase of\u00a015,564<\/span> over the previous month. This was a result of\u00a0a\u00a02,964 increase in\u00a0unemployed residents and\u00a0an increase of\u00a012,600 employed residents.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0total labor force<\/span>, which includes both Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment,\u00a0stands at <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">3.38 million,<\/span> and the state\u2019s\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">64.8 percent labor force participation rate<\/span> remains above the national rate of\u00a062.9 percent.
