This is one way that Indiana encourages Hoosiers to donate and charities to perform certain desirable work, such as employment training or affordable housing. Organizations\u00a0use NAP tax credits as an incentive to help them leverage more contributions from individuals and businesses for\u00a0programs and services benefiting economically disadvantaged households or communities.<\/p>\n<h2>HOW DO THE CREDITS WORK?<\/h2>\n<p>Organizations, corporations and individuals are each eligible to make a contribution* to a NAP agency. When they\u00a0do, they will receive a tax credit on their Indiana taxes worth 50% of their contribution.\u00a0For example: If an individual contributes $1,000 they will receive a $500 Indiana tax credit.\u00a0Donations are reported to the Indiana Department of Revenue (IDOR) and a credit is given to the donor\u2019s state\u00a0tax liability.<\/p>\n<h2>WHAT ARE ELIGIBLE CONTRIBUTIONS?<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022 Cash<br \/>\n\u2022 Check<br \/>\n\u2022 Credit Card<br \/>\n\u2022 Stock (which has been liquidated)<br \/>\n\u2022 Contributions designated through United Way<br \/>\n\u2022 In-kind donations** (exclusively building materials)<br \/>\n\u2022 Property donations<\/p>\n<p>*No single contributor may donate more than $50,000 in a calendar year.
