Money fights are the second leading cause of divorce<\/a>, a statistic\u00a0echoed by Jimenez Law Firm<\/a> and Dave Ramsey<\/a>. It is well known that for some time families have been in dangerous financial conditions, and that it is getting worse every year. Two years ago, in 2022, The Federal Reserve Board determined that 86% of American families could not afford to miss even one paycheck<\/a>\u00a0[Fortune<\/a>,\u00a0American Prospect<\/a>,\u00a0Market Watch<\/a>,\u00a0Prosperity Now<\/a>]<\/small><\/small> including\u00a0families with higher incomes<\/a>. The 2022\u00a0Survey of Household Economics and Decision making (SHED)<\/a>\u00a0conducted by the\u00a0Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System<\/a> indicates a decline in peoples’ financial well-being over the previous year. The survey, which was fielded in October 2022, found that self-reported financial well-being fell sharply and was among the lowest observed since 2016<\/strong><\/span><\/em>. 47% of families can not cover a $400.00 unexpected expense,\u00a061% can not cover a $1,000 unexpected expense<\/a>: they do not have a cash “Safety Net” or ” Emergency Fund” so that they can deal with even small unexpected expenses without borrowing. The\u00a0SHED Appendix B with consumer response data<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Appendix A with the survey questions<\/a> is available for public review. Data from the October 2023 SHED should be available in May 2024: what do you<\/em> think? Was our economy in 2023 better or worse than in 2022?<\/p>\n According to\u00a0a Pew Research article<\/a>\u00a0published in December 2022, one-in-four U.S. parents say they\u2019ve\u00a0struggled to afford food or housing<\/a>\u00a0in the past year. Debt sucks up almost all of the money that we work hard to earn, we face a retirement eating dog food on social security at best, and if any little thing goes wrong we’re likely to be homeless. Our site license dashboard showed that we had helped 1,007 families at the end of December 2023, and today, February 10, 1024, we have 1,245: in the first 41 days of 2024\u00a0 238 more families have signed up to permanently change their family legacy for the better using these simple “baby steps<\/a>” taught in the well known Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University curriculum.
