Virus stimulus amount for you

This just in via email from DaveRamsey.com:

Everyone likes the idea of money falling from the sky—in theory. And if you’re really in a bind right now, then this money might be a huge answer to prayer. But don’t wait around on the government (who’s already in debt!) to bail you out. It’ll be weeks before you’d see that money. So don’t rely on that. There are things you can do right now to make it through these crazy days.

Here we go: In the proposed bill, individuals who filed taxes in 2018 or 2019 would receive $1,200 for each adult and $500 for each child. If you’re a household of two adults and two children, your amount would be $3,400.

With 78% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck, this coronavirus stimulus could help keep food on the table and the lights on—but at the end of the day, if you’re out of work, $1,200 isn’t going to go that far for that long.2

The government’s goal is to get checks into the hands of Americans within three weeks of the bill passing and then again another six weeks later—if we’re still under a national emergency then.

If You Need Help: New Jobs in Fort Wayne Right Now

According to an article by Liza Green in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette Thursday 3/26 “Northeast Indiana Works and WorkOne Northeast are working with more than 50 employers who are trying to fill jobs, amid thousands of workers being sidelined by the coronavirus pandemic.

Grocery stores that this month announced hiring sprees to keep up with customer demand are on the list, but so are numerous other sectors.

  • Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana is trying to hire 90 people
  • Menards in Angola hopes to add 30
  • Manpower is looking for 30
  • Purdue University Fort Wayne seeks 24

According to Liza, detailed numbers for about 35 of the employers on the Northeast Indiana Works list show more than 475 jobs available. Clearly there are now more than 10,000 newly unemployed in our community, so if you need help getting through this disaster it is critical to your family that you be proactive and contact WorkOne immediately. The official DWD Home pageIndiana web site on unemployment and Contacting WorkOne are helpful: all job search and unemployment claims are processed electronically through Indiana Career Connect and the Indiana Uplink CS3 System.

If you need income during this crisis, the key is to adjust and seek work that meets a community need, and there are many. Liza’s full article can be read at https://journalgazette.net/business/20200326/jobs-opening-in-region-due-to-outbreak and Lisa can be reached by email at lisagreen@jg.net.
