Funding Opportunities

Used by permission Vector Toons

Adult Life Training needs funding in the following areas. Adult Life Training, Inc. is a recognized tax exempt IRC Section 501(c)(3) Public Charity. All cash donations to Adult Life Training, Inc. are tax deductible under IRC Section 170. http://alt-fw.org/tax-info/determination-letter-short.pdf. Our mailing address is Adult Life Training, Inc., c/o Abundant Life, 3301 E Coliseum Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. There is also a PayPal button on each page — we loose 3% + 30 cents of each PayPal donation to PayPal fees.

The best method of donating is to mail us a check, followed by donating through our PayPal link at the top of every page. Checks cost us nothing to deposit, and PayPal charges us a very nominal discounted fee so we receive most of what is donated, provided it is at least $2.00. We also have a presence on Go Fund Us and PayPal Giving Fund.

Teachers

Most needed are volunteers to teach FPU Financial Literacy classes.

To qualify to teach FPU a person must first complete the FPU class and be trying to follow the Baby Steps:

  1. have a starter emergency fund of $1,000 so most emergencies cannot force you deeper into debt,
  2. budget and have your budget meeting with your spouse (or accountability partner) every month,
  3. get (or be diligently working to get) your family completely out of all debt – including student loans, credit cards, and car loans, and then building up your emergency fund to support you for three to six months,
  4. investing for your retirement,
  5. your kids post secondary education,
  6. Paying off any mortgage on your home early,
  7. and finally living and giving like no one else.

If you would like to volunteer to help, please email me at jdnash@alt-fw.org or call my office at 260.432.0014 x128 Tues-Fri 11:00am – 4:00pm Tues-Fri.

Coffee Fund

Coffee supplies are available daily in the lab for those who visit. Coffee, creamer, milk, sugar, honey, and plasticware for stirring are used up daily and must be replaced. Consumables cost about $9 per two weeks. If you would like to help with any of these items, please use the PayPal button at top of this page or mail your check or money order to Adult Life Training, Inc., c/o ALC, 3301 Coliseum Blvd, RM 136, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Please write on your check “Coffee Fund”. Please we can only use factory sealed containers of these supplies.

Long Term (annual)

The FPU Site License for year 2024 is $2,500. This license allows us to provide full FPU memberships for free to a limited number of community members. This has proven to be a very popular resource, multiplying our outreach to exceed to combined total for the prior five years three years ago, was 47 in year 2020, 49 in year 2021, and is at 350+ so far this year. We also want to add FPU classes for Teens using the Ramsey Education curriculum, which is $5,600 for an unlimited number of students, and Financial Coach Master Training for two people, which is about $3,600. Virtual classes via electronic conferencing is almost exclusively the way people prefer to participate. We also need an annual license for Zoom, which is $150. To reduce the cost of printing FPU books for in-person classes we need to buy some printed books from Ramsey, at a cost of $180 each case of 18.

Advertising

We need a better advertising media than free newspapers, fliers, and FaceBook. Google grants us a little over $300/day for ads, which we are using. A proper ad campaign will require a substantial sum: $10,000 was the amount quoted to me last year to advertise on all the shopping carts in one Kroger store for one year. This idea appeals to me because TV, Radio, and billboard ads may or may not be seen, but everyone must eat! That means grocery shopping and exposure to our grocery cart outreach with QR code at least once a week.

Office Supplies

We need donations to cover equipment maintenance, paper, toner and other office operations. The cost of toner is outrageous.

First Paid Staff

If we are going to expand we need part time people to manage the office and prepare grant proposals. Payroll expense with all the government charges is about twice what the person is actually paid. If you want to help mail your check or money order to Adult Life Training, Inc., c/o ALC, 3301 Coliseum Blvd, RM 136, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Please write on your check “First Paid Staff”.
