2023 SHED Data: Most adults worse financially than last year

2023 SHED results: 65% adults said that price increases made their financial situation worse. White
and Hispanic adults, adults with a disability, and parents living with their children hardest hit. Material hardships included not paying all bills, not always having enough to eat, and skipping medical care because of cost.

Abating the Causes of Poverty in our Community

The debt industry marketing has been very effective: debt is no longer a critical problem, it is now an existential crisis. Something on the order of 80% of Americans cannot afford to miss one paycheck or social support payment. The average American has $90,460 in personal debt on top of the $88,346.46 share of the US National Debt. Debt affects our Individual Quality of Life in many ways, some immediately and others grow over time.

Non Duplicated Services: Homeless Sheltering for single women without addictions or children

There are many shelters in our area which will help homeless pregnant women or women with dependent children. HOWEVER there are few (I think 1) that will help a woman without children unless they have an addiction and none that will accept a woman with her pet. I am interested in talking with 1) other social local agencies and 2) philanthropists who would like to help solve this problem.
