2010 & 2011 Financials Updated

Posted on May 28, 2011May 28, 2011 by John Nash

Our 2010 and YTD financials are now available. Since John has finally figured out WHERE the button is to specify the date range for the report, and how to tell GNU Cash to spit out a web-ready html page he can paste right into our WordPress website, these updates should occur monthly from now on.

If you don’t have a good accounting program for your charity or company, or if you have had problems with other, expensive, commercial packages that erase your payroll ratios every February unless you give the manufacturer another $200 “subscription” for them to provide you with the same Circular E data which you can get for free from the government, then I encourage you to browse to the link below, download the free version for your kind of computer system, and install it. Browse to http://www.gnucash.org.

We download our transactions from our accounts at the Three Rivers Federal Credit Union for free, then click the import button in GNU Cash and it brings in the transactions. It normally figures out where to post every transaction, but if one gets stuck we double click the name of the account to which it should be posted. We then verify our account totals with the account totals at our Credit Union and fix anything that we missed: the computer usually gets it all perfect the first time without our help. We then click the Income Statement button and it creates an Income Statement for us. We click the Export as HTML button and we get the web page for our web site. Copy, Paste, all better. Neat, fast, easy, and very FREE.

Reporting is via the GnuCash personal finance manager. The GNU way to manage your money! This copy was built from r17949M on 2010-08-19. To get your own free download of this professional open-source program FREE under the GNU General Public License, Version 2, browse to http://www.gnucash.org.
