On My Way Pre-K enrollment STATEWIDE April 1, 2020

Posted on March 10, 2020March 10, 2020 by John Nash

This just in via eMail from On My Way Pre-K Manager Kimberley K Fullove:

(Ed. Please see your local FSSA office for more information or call Automated Health Systems (AHS) 855-533-7342.

AHS is located at 7320 Engle Rd Suite 300 B in the IU Health building at the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and Engle Rd.  Families can schedule an appointment by calling 855-533-7342 or  through the Schedule and Appointment option on the website at https://www.inchildcare.org/. Internal email address has been redacted)

On My Way Pre-K enrollment is right around the corner— possibly as early as next week, so I wanted to reach out and share some information and updates for 2020-21 enrollment.

2020-21 Enrollment

On My Way Pre-K has expanded to statewide from 20 counties to 92 counties! This opens the door to eligible 4-year-olds throughout the state. In addition, this year, a limited number (up to 20% of On My Way families statewide) can qualify under the new “limited eligibility” criteria which increases the income guidelines to at or below 185% federal poverty level (FPL) and also allows for some flexibility for families where a parent receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) benefits and is not working, but meets other eligibility criteria. We are hopeful that these adjustments will allow more families to participate in 2020-21.

Regular Eligibility Criteria

  • Family income 127% or below FPL
  • Parents in household working, going to school or attending job training
  • Child age 4 but not yet 5 by August 1

Limited Eligibility Criteria

  • Family income up to 185% FPL
  • Parent in household working, going to school or attending job training OR parent receives SSI or SSD income
  • Child age 4 but not yet 5 by August 1

Application Process

A new online application process will be launched mid-March at which time all families may begin the application process. Families are encouraged to apply on line. Paper applications are available upon request only. The link to the application will be distributed once the online application is available. I will send out an announcement when enrollment has opened with the link to access the application.

Priority Enrollment Period

Appointments for applicants who meet the “regular eligibility” requirements will be scheduled beginning as early as April 1.  From April 1 through May 31, the eligibility office will conduct appointments with the “regular eligibility” applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Applications for families who meet the “limited eligibility” criteria will be placed in a queue until June 1.  At that time, appointments will be scheduled for both “regular eligibility” applicants and “limited eligibility” applicants on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Because On My Way is now statewide with the same total number of enrollment slots and enrollment is first-come/first-serve, we want to encourage families to apply early.  Slots are expected to fill quickly.  Please encourage families to apply as soon as possible and follow through with the enrollment process in a timely manner.  We want to make sure all eligible Allen County families secure an On My Way grant for their 4-year-old.

New Eligibility Office
Automated Health Systems (AHS) is the agency that will serve as the Eligibility Office (intake) for Allen County and will be screening On My Way applicants for eligibility.  New procedures have been put in place to streamline the enrollment process and allow for “virtual” appointments. The goal is to make the process more family friendly and assist families in submitting the required documentation with a short turn around time.  Families will be able to upload documentation to a portal which will minimize the need for face to face appointments.  AHS is located at 7320 Engle Rd Suite 300 B in the IU Health building at the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and Engle Rd.  Families can schedule an appointment by calling 855-533-7342 or on the through the Schedule and Appointment option on the website at https://www.inchildcare.org/.
… (some agency-only material redacted here)
Thank you so  much for helping us get the word out to families.  Please let me know if you have questions or need clarification. Let’s make 2020 the best On My Way Pre-K enrollment cycle yet!
