Our focus is providing computer job skills training so people can get a job, but occasionally we feel that other good information should be passed on to those who see our comments for their safety or to improve their quality of life.
This web site (http://www.student.ipfw.edu/~nashja01/heartdisease/) provides an abundance of information important to one demographic we serve, mature women of African descent.
More than 41million women have a form of cardiovascular disease (stroke, heart disease, or congestive heart failure) in the United States. More than 450,000 of these women die each year from this condition. Coronary heart disease is the number one cause of death of women 65 years and older.
African American women are predisposed to heart disease because they have the most risk factors … Women can reduce their risk for heart disease just by knowing the risk factors and taking steps to reduce their individual risk.
If you are a woman of African descent, or know one that you care about, we encourage your review of this information.
